An interesting and wise reflection by the Privacy Commisioner of Canada on the rise of the Canadian Privacy Act and the Commodore 64 way back in 1982.
I like this quote:
“It is unfortunate that Canadians have stronger privacy safeguards for personal information in the hands of the private sector [i.e. PIPEDA, c. 2001] than they do for that held by government. …[i.e. Federal Government via Privacy Act, c. 1982]”
