StumbleUpon 0
best new web 2.0 feature I like: StumbleUpon. doesn’t work with my Safari (all I really use on a Mac). but it works with IE and any Firefox incarnation (I use Netscape on PC) and it always introduces me to new and interesting sites.
Actually, Netscape is a better browser now than even Firefox. Like to see many of its features elsewhere.
And the main reason why I am still using Safari on the Mac, as opposed to Flock which is great (but a bit slow to start), is because a developer has written a nice piece of software called “AcidSearch” that I purchased. It speeds up searches since it allows me to “pre-program” search channels such that I need only enter an abbreviation in the search box plus my search terms and–poof! away it goes.
E.g., if I want to search the Internet Movie Database for how to spell Gui Qon’s character in Star Wars, I just type:
imdb star wars
since I pre-programmed the search box to recognize “imdb” as an abbreviation that leads to the movie database’s search page, I immediately end up at the range of IMDB’s pages on star wars.
for Google maps, I just enter “map” and the area; for Amazon I put “amazon”, etc.
since I already type key words, I find this is faster than those search boxes which allow you to specific search *engines* but not necessarily search pages — and also they do that by clicking, not typing.
