del.icio.us starter kit 1
I tend to Google everything. So one way I am attempting to re-organize my net life is by using an online bookmarks service. That way, no matter where I am or on what computer, I can access links that are important to me.
I tried Google Bookmarks but, as most folks agree, del.icio.us is preferred.
So what is del.icio.us? Just a trendy way to manage bookmarks. However, it also allows you to tag your bookmarks, and visit other people’s bookmarks on the same topic.
Explanation care of information management now (grammatically edited because I am tired of writers that can’t write):
“By way of example, you can see how my del.icio.us account has grown to over 1,000 resources in about seven months; and even when I hit 10,000 resources, I am confident I will be able to retrieve any page I want simply by combining my own keywords. For example, the list of my resources tagged both with “Web2.0″ and “Trends” can be accessed witha URL formatted like this: http://del.icio.us/Fidelis1970/Web2.0+Trends (”Fidelis1970″ is the name of my account on del.icio.us). Similarly, I know I can retrieve my own list of sites using drupal with the following URL: http://del.icio.us/Fidelis1970/drupal+Example”
Get started:
1. Open an account on http://del.icio.us
2. Place the two buttons (”post to del.icio.us” and “view my del.icio.us”) in your toolbar.
3. if you like, upload your current bookmarks to del.icio.us (scroll down to the heading “Browsers”).
4. Start tagging pages as recommended in The Several Habits of Wildly Successful del.icio.us Users.
5. If on a Mac, you may like to try Flock–a browser that makes working with del.icio.us seamless.
6. If on a PC, you may like to try Deliwin, bookmark client that puts your del.icio.us bookmarks in the system bar
