My, my, my: I can’t believe how long it takes to find information out! Check outGoogle Suggest and enter a question. Watch as Google attempts to understand and help narrow your search. Perfect for entering questions in human speech terms rather than bibliographic ones.
Aside from the really cool use of Ajax technology, though, how is this any different from running regular Google search? In fact, it isn’t any different. The only real application of this is that it will tell you in the drop down field approximately how many results there are for that particular query. It is predictive based on the first few words you enter–but it still enters that query in the regular Google search field. In other words, it is like structured searching: it assembles previously compiled searches and attempts to predict that you will be looking for the same thing. So if you are like me–frequently searching for arcane or hard to find information, you are just out of luck. On the other hand, you are not out of luck: it just runs your query in Google (with the added benefit of helping to prevent misspellings since you simply select the word rather than typing). Hence, there is little point to this other than helping to identify that: (a) others have done this same search; and (b) there are X-number of results to it.
That said, it is an awesome instance of Ajax.
