Pink Panther 0
I tend to go through movie viewing phases. For instance, I will routinely watch Twin Peaks in its entirety now and again (in which I learned that David Muchovny, aka Fox Mulder, played a cross-dressing FBI agent); or James Bond from 1 to 20 (after which I got every single Austin Power reference imaginable).
Currently I am going through a Pink Panther phase. Interestingly, the name does not refer to the inspector but to a diamond which time and again forms part of the plot. The diamond is slightly flawed and the movie gets its name from the shape of the flaw, said to resemble a leaping panther.
The animated character itself was created for the movie, after which it got its own show. And the catchy music was also created for the movie.
All of which is fascinating in the context of todays’ television-to-movie trend (Charlie’s Angels, Dukes of Hazzard, etc.–when can we expect the A-Team to grace the screen?): here we have a prime example of a movie-to-tv trend.
Speaking of James Bond, Roger Moore (I) played the inspector in the Curse of the Pink Panther.
